Methodology

Students volunteer to form a company, and then meet weekly during school hours, supported by a teacher and two volunteer business advisers.

Pupils established a company called Flame which sold product and services. The product called Chargehand enables users to keep leads to their mobile phones neat whilst charging. The product was sold at school parents evenings and at trade fairs organised by young enterprise in a public shopping mall. Packaging and leaflets were designed and produced and a special stall created.
The flame organisation also ran and promoted music events such as a disco and jazz concert. An intranet site was set up within the school and an internet site and email accounts, all were regularly updated. The company was promoted in the local press. A full company report and interim accounts was prepared at the end of the project.
