Berkshire Business Education Alliance Mission Statement

"Working together across the County of Berkshire, we aim to develop for young people of all ages effective, high quality, sustainable links between education and business which are both relevant and structured."

Who are the BBEA?

The Board of the Berkshire Business Education Alliance has been formed by Managers and Chairs of each individual partner organisation and is representative of all areas of education and business.  This forum will be responsible for the monitoring and development of Berkshire Business Education Alliance activities.

The Government has main objectives for education business links and they are as follows:

  • Raising standards of achievement
  • Improving pupil motivation and attendance
  • Supporting management and leadership in schools
  • Preparing young people for the world of work including employability 
  • Enhancing the delivery of the national curriculum
  • Delivery of key skills, including wider skills such as creativity and enterprise

In line with the Government objectives the Berkshire Business Education Alliance has outlined their main aims and objectives.

Aims & Objectives

  1. To provide all young people with a wide range of high quality, relevant structured experiences of work throughout their education.
  2. To prepare young people more effectively for adult and working life by:
    • Helping to raise standards of achievement
    • Increasing motivation and attendance
    • Developing key skills and attitudes
  3. To secure a greater involvement of business to support schools and FE colleges, recognising fully the benefits business and education can gain from their participation through:
    • Staff development opportunities
    • Overcoming negative impressions of certain business and industry sectors young people may have
    • Enchancing the knowledge and understanding of business and education of each other's worlds
  4. To achieve closer links between schools, FE colleges and businesses by establishing a new structure for delivering Education Business links activity, which offers more benefit to both, clear about priorities and can target resources more effectively.

In order to enhance the aims and objectives of the Berkshire Business Education Alliance, the following activity areas were identified as strategically important for addressing the needs of Berkshire and also meeting the objectives of the Government.
